Women's Soccer sets a school record in 20-0 win over Menlo College

SANTA CRUZ -- By the time UCSC Head Women's Soccer Coach Paul Lester "called off the dogs" in 63rd minute, UCSC had already set a staggering record - and the scoreboard at UCSC would have been easily mistaken as that from an American Football game.

11 different UCSC players would score for UCSC as the team soundly defeated the visiting Oaks from Menlo College, 20-0 Thursday afternoon at the Lower East Field. UCSC had 35 shots on goal in the first half alone, and lead 13-0 heading into halftime.

18 minutes into the second half, Lester halted the offensive onslaught, and UCSC would focus on defense for the rest of the day.

Top performers included Freshman Forward Marissa Robitaille, who lead UCSC with 4 goals. Senior Forwards Bridget Baroncini and Danielle Schlosser each had 3 goals and 2 assists, and Freshman Forward Kirstin Horn also had 3 goals.

The Oakes from Menlo didn't get a shot off on goal, and rarely were even able to get the ball far into UCSC territory, recording only one corner kick.

The team's record now stands at 9-3-1. They play their next match this Sunday against CSU Hayward.
