October 21, 2002 UCSC -- The Women's Soccer team suffered its fifth loss of the season on Sunday, losing at home to the University of Redlands, 1-0. Ashley West of Redlands scored the game's only goal in the 69th minute, and UCSC just couldn't get the ball in the net. UCSC Goalkeeper Janice Loper made 4 saves in a defensive game that featured frequent substitutions. After the game, family and friends of the program joined with players and coaches for the team's annual barbecue. UCSC saw its record drop to 9-5-1. The team plays its next game next Sunday against Chapman University. The two teams met earlier this season, resulting in UCSC's only draw. |
