Women's Soccer Leaves Dominican without a Prayer

SAN RAFAEL, CA -- The Slugs pulled out a 2-1 overtime victory over Dominican University to get their third win of the season. The Slugs dominated on offense, and outshot the Penguins 27-4, but it was Domincan that got the first goal of the game in the 46 minute.

Down 1-0 the Slugs tied the game when freshman Annick Lamb converted a cross from freshman Morgan McCarthy with 15 minutes left to go in the second half. This was the second goal of the season for Lamb, and the first assist for McCarthy. In the first overtime period, the Slugs kept the pressure on and with time winding down. Seniors Caitlin Carpenter and Michelle Sharman advanced the ball up the left side and found senior Forward Kirstin Horn behind the defense. Horn got the ball about 20 yards out and attacked the goal, netting the game winner in the 99th minute.

The Slugs are now 3-1 and travel to the University of Redlands this weekend to play Kean University on Saturday and the No. 2 ranked team in the Nation, University of Puget Sound, on Sunday.
