Lady Slugs blank the CLU Regals with a 3-0 Win!
_________________________________________________________________
THOUSAND OAKS, CA

The Banana Slugs kept the Cal Lutheran Women’s soccer team off the scoreboard in a 3-0 win today and remain undefeated on the season at 13-0-3.

UC Santa Cruz struggled to find a rhythm until midway through the first half. They took control of the game by means of effective communication, moving the ball quickly on the ground, and using the strong wind to their advantage to find the front-runners.

Annick Lamb opened the scoring by beating two defenders in the box, dribbling in and slotting it past the Cal Lutheran keeper. However, this goal was called off by an obstruction foul. Lamb struck again with an unassisted goal in the 38th minute and then
capped the scoring with her 16th goal of the season in the 80th minute. Freshman Katie Von Beroldingen was responsible for the Slugs second goal, calmly chipping the keeper in the 43rd minute off of an assist from center back Megan Cox. The Lady Slugs continued to apply high pressure throughout the match and out shot the Regals 20 to 7.

The Lady Slugs were rewarded with their 14th shutout of the season after an excellent performance by the back line combined with an outstanding defensive effort by the entire team. Junior keeper Katie Loomis tallied three saves in the match.

The UCSC Women’s Soccer Team begin to close out the regular season with their home finale on Friday, Oct. 27th at 3 pm on the East Remote Field. The Lady Slugs will take this week to prepare to play their best soccer of the year as they take on rivals Chapman
(10-5-0).
