Lady Slugs Overpowered by UPS in a 4-0 loss

The Loggers picked up an early goal when Midfielder Fiona Gornick took a pass from Kandace Logan in the 5th minute and blasted a shot from outside the box past UCSC Senior Keeper Katie Loomis.  Puget Sound doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Janece Levien scored on a pass from Adrienne Folsom that was redirected by the foot of UPS Katie Gillette.  In the second half, the Loggers made it 3-0 in the 48th minute when Lauren Gehring took advantage of a corner kick, heading in the ball lofted up by Logan.  The Loggers earned their final score of the afternoon in the 59th minute when Gornick took advantage of a deflection off the right post and put the ball into the net for the second time.

The Lady Slugs were able to put together 10 shots but just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net.  UCSC Senior Katie Loomis made five saves for the Banana Slugs, but allowed the four goals as the Loggers took the 4-0 win.  UCSC moves to 1-1-0 and will stay in Tacoma for a few more days as they will take on Willamette in a neutral-site game on Tuesday at Peyton Field.
