May 21, 2009 UCSC Women's Swimmer Megan Crowley Named to the Academic All-District Team
SANTA CRUZ, CA--Senior Swimmer Megan Crowley was named to the 2009 Academic All-District Women's At-Large First Team. Presented by ESPN, this academic award acknowledges Crowley for not only her accomplishments in the pool, but her accomplishments in the classroom as well. Crowley, a Navato, CA native, is an Environmental Studies/Economics major with a GPA of 3.67. Ian Carney Memorial Santa Cruz to Monterey Trans-Bay Swim
SANTA
CRUZ, CA--
The UC Santa Cruz Swim team completed their annual Ian Carney Memorial
Trans-Bay Swim on October 5th. Two relay teams fo six swimmers from the
UCSC Swim Team swam from Santa Cruz Seabright Beach to Monterey, by the
Harbor. The Trans-Bay swim is approximately 26 miles, with each team alternating
swimmers every 20 minutes. All relay swimmers swam the last mile to Monterey. (more)

Slug Swimmers Finish Off Season in Ohio
WOOSTER, OH -- After a strong performance at their
conference meet in February, seven slugs qualified for the National Championships.
The female qualifiers were Seniors Erin Hunter and Mariko Ikehata, and
Junior Meg Crowley. The men qualified Seniors Troy Marcikic and Kenton
Drake, and Sophomores Ben Ferguson and Jamie Johnson. The NCAA qualifiers
took part in the Division 3 National Championships at Miami University
in Ohio. The women's meet took place March 13-15 and the men's meet took
place March 20-22. The women finished with 5 All-Americans and the men

Slug Swimming Finishes Regular Season at the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships
LONG BEACH, CA -- The UCSC swim team finished off
its regular season last weekend at the PCSC Championships in Long Beach,
CA. The men finished third with 1318.5 points, and the women finished
fifth with 812 points. Both teams finished with their highest point total
ever at the championships and both men and women finished as the top division
three team. The slug men were also the first D3 team to ever finish in
the top three. In the swimming portion of the meet alone, without counting
the scores from diving, the slugs finished in second place, 2.5 points
ahead of division 2 UCSD.(more)

Slugs Challenge Division 1 Rival Cal Poly
SANTA CRUZ, CA --This past weekend, the slug swimmers
finished off their regular season with a meet against Cal Poly. Over
the past few years these teams have become rivals despite the difference
in athletic funding. Cal Poly proved to be too much for the Slugs in
the end, winning the men's meet with a score of 178 to106, and women's
sides of the meet with a score of 201 to 98. (more)

UC Santa Cruz Swim Team Sweeps First Annual Cal Lutheran Winter Invitational
THOUSAND OAKS, CA -- Both Slug men and women's
teams dominate a field which included Whitworth University, Pacific Lutheran
University, Cal Lutheran University, and Fresno Pacific University. The
meet was an important one as it marked the only time this season the slugs
face Division III Competition outside of NCAAs. (more)
December 15, 2008 Slugs Swim at Finis Winter Invite
LONG BEACH, CA -- The Slugs recently returned from the Finis Winter Invite at Belmont Plaza Pool.
The Slugs set three school records. The men’s 200 free Relay ( 1:22.99), 400 Free Relay (3:03.25), and Ben
Ferguson in the 50 free, 20.20. In addition we picked up 13 NCAA consideration cuts and 1 NCAA
Automatic Cut. ( Ben’s 50 free, ranked #1 in the nation at present). (more)
