Men's Tennis Continue's Rollin'

The Slugs moved to 10-0 on the season against Div lll opponents with a 8-1
victory over Univ of Redlands at home. This was their first match with
Senior Matt Seeberger back in the singles lineup after suffering an ankle sprain
which caused him to miss playing singles in our previous three dual matches.
With losses in these three matches against NAIA and Div ll opponents they were
able to see a few more players perform and everyone get tested against tough
opponents.

The Slugs opened with a commanding win at one doubles with Matt Seeberger and Max Ortiz dominating by a score of 8-1. At three doubles they got another strong performance from Jared Kamel and Marc Vartabedian who are undefeated against Div lll opponents
for the year with an 8-5 victory. At two doubles the Slugs dropped a close one with
Alex Villalobos and Brian Pybas losing 8-6.

In singles Jared Kamel was first off with a 6-2,6-2 win over Aron Ouye at the
two position. Jared, AKA the doctor, used his variety and overall attack to
dissect his opponent. Next off was Alex Villalobos at six singles who
registered a 6-2,6-4 victory. Alex has played consistently well lately in
earning a spot in the singles lineup. Jeff Fong got back to his winning ways
with a 6-1,6-3 victory showing his tenacious style. At almost the same time
Brian Pybas and Max Ortiz put the Slugs up 7-1 recording solid victories at four
and five singles.

With the match locked up Matt Seeberger found himself in a bit of a jam as he
faced break point down 3-4 in the third. He played a beautiful point with a
forcing serve and winning forehand to get back to deuce where two strong
approaches leveled the match. At 4 all Matt broke and served it out against
Eric Wager of Redlands who played a very strong match.

The Slugs are off until after finals when we go to Boise Idaho for a Div l tournament
before returning home to play Claremont on April 1. This match will possible
feature the top two ranked teams in the country and a repeat of the ITA National
Indoor Final matchup.
