March 7, 2008 Tennis Players Giving Back
Dear Slug Fans,
Below is one of many great examples of how our Slug Tennis Champions help to make a better world. Hats off to NCAA Doubles Champions Nick Cunningham and Derek Fitzpatric for their great work. Next up for our current generation of Slugs is longtime foe Swarthmore College who we play at 2:00 on Wed March 12th at the beautiful East Fieldhouse courts. Best wishes to all and hopefully you can make one of these events! Sincerely, Coach Hansen and the Slugs Hey Everybody, Thanks to Judy's Cleaners, The Sacramento Capitals and local tennis patrons we have put together a day of 'Nick try not to humiliate yourself too bad' tennis challenge. These wonderful people have committed to sponsoring a local foster child for her class field trip to New York, Washington DC and Boston, but first I have to reunite with my college doubles partner this Saturday and take on some of the areas top players. We will be playing five different teams over the span of four hours at which point my arm is probably going to fall off. We wanted to invite everyone to come and enjoy the fun. It's free! We will have a barbeque going all day and plenty of drinks to go around. Also attending the event will be Sam Warburg, a form Stanford NCAA National Champion who plays for the Sacramento Capitals and Dmitri Tursunov, a Granite Bay resident who is currently ranked 36 in the world on the professional tennis circuit. Come hangout with and watch some of the areas and worlds top tennis players. This event is part of our Simple Heroes Initiative and will be helping out Diane, a local foster child in 8th grade. Diane is an A and B student, a class representative for the Student Government, loves Track and Field and at the end of this month will be flying to Boston, New York and Washington DC for the trip of a life time. Attached is more information on Saturday's event and directions to Ben Combs house where the matches are being held. I hope you can all make it for a bit J -Saturday March 8th, 10 am - 3 pm -Combs Residence, Orangevale CA (Address and Directions Attached) **And once again thank you all for your support last Friday at our wine tasting event. We unexpectedly had nearly 300 people attend! It was a great feeling and extremely motivating knowing that we have all of your support. -Thank you Happy Friday!!!! Nick Cunningham |
