January 31, 2008 Slugs Preparing For Their Season Home Opener This Weekend
Dear Slug Tennis Fans,
We open our home 2008 schedule this Saturday February 2 with a triple header! It will be a great opportunity to see almost all of our guys in action as we take on Pomona-Pitzer at 9:30 at the East Fieldhouse, American River College at the West Courts at 1:00 and Willamette University at the East Courts at 2:00. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed with the weather as we are all very excited about this great day of tennis. Pomona-Pitzer is coached by Santa Cruz NIKE Tennis Camp Co-Director Ben Belletto and Willamette University is coach by former Sagehen and Santa Cruz NIKE Tennis Camp Assistant Director Neil Patty Patel. Both coaches bring a great understanding of our program as well as fantastic coaching skills so it should be an outstanding day. I am very pleased with the work of our team and look forward to helping move them closer to realizing their immense potential as the season progresses. Next weekend we will fly to Walla Walla Washington to play some of the top PNW teams indoors at Whitman College. A similar trip last year proved valuable preparing us for the ITA National Indoor Team Championship we won and will again play later this February. We have certainly been challenged by the weather thus far and yet our physical and mental training are proceeding well. I am really enjoying our entire team and our coaching staff which are all working together to produce a team that represents well the quality of this great program. Thanks to all of you for your ongoing support and hopefully we will see some of you at our matches this weekend. Best wishes, Coach Hansen and the Slugs |
