Dear Slug Tennis Fans,
The Slugs routed perennial East tennis power Swarthmore College 7-0.
It was nice to get the doubles point with wins at one doubles as Bryce Parmelly
and Kellen Ali-Christie combined for the 8-6 win. At two doubles Shane
Templeman and Matt Seeberger continue to improve winning by a commanding
8-4 score. Team Casey lost their first match at three doubles dropping
the match 8-5.
With the doubles point in hand the Slugs rolled in singles. Brian Casey
fought off fatigue and an inspired opponent to win 6-1,7-6 at one singles. Brian
was playing his third singles match in two days as showed great heart in closing
down the match. Matt Seeberger played some great tennis but also some
streaky tennis in winning 7-5,6-3. As he levels out some of the rough spots
he will be very tough to beat. Shane Templeman dominated at three singles
winning 6-1,6-1. Kevin Casey was too strong and quick for his opponent
in a 6-2,6-0 win. With his improving serve he has too much fire power for most
opponents. This combined with his competitive spirit creates big problems. Andrew
Cohen is using his forehand in much more creative ways to set up points
and he rolled to a 6-0,6-2 win at five singles. Bryce Parmelly used his
mashing serve to control the match at six singles winning 6-3,3-6,6-3.
This has been a busy stretch of matches and we play again on Wednesday against
Gonzaga University before having a break for finals. Thanks to all our great
fans and Go Slugs! We are now 9-2 on the season.
All the best and Go Slugs!
