The slugs had a successful three-day weekend in Santa Barbara and L.A.  We started the weekend on Friday, Feb 16 with a convincing 9-0 win over a strong Westmont team in Santa Barbara.  All three doubles teams were down at least a break or more and all of them came back in their matches to pull out victories to go into our singles matches with a 3-0 lead.  We finished the match strong, sweeping all six singles matches.  The results are as follows:

The next day we traveled to L.A. to face the University of La Verne.  Our tennis was shakier, but ended up winning the match 8-1.  There were great comebacks in some singles matches.  Jessica was down 5-2 in the first set and fought back to win the first set 7-5 before Baker retired.  Kyla played a close first set, being down a game the entire way before closing it out 7-5, 6-2.

Sunday morning we faced one of our Division III rivals in Pomona-Pitzer.  Doubles started out very strong as we went up against three very talented doubles teams.  Our energy was incredible and our support for each other was as strong as ever.  We played some of the best doubles we have played all season and ended being down only 2-1.  The singles matches were close, but we fell short altogether, losing 6-3.  This match was by far the best match we have played all season in that everyone played with passion and heart and supported each other.  We went out and showed everyone what it means to be a part of slug tennis. Thank you to all our fans who came out to support us, and a special thank you to Lauren’s family for hosting and feeding us while we were in Santa Barbara.
