Women's Tennis Start Division III Portion of Their Season 4-1

After going 0-4 in the beginning of the season against all Division 1 and Division 2 opponents, the slugs have started off their DIII part of the season with a strong start.  After dropping a close decision to the top ranked team in the west, Santa Cruz is currently on a four match win streak.  Their first victory was a convincing 9-0 win over the University of LaVerne in southern California.  The slugs finished their southern California trip with one of the biggest wins of the program’s history, beating Claremont 6-3.  Facing the adversity of only having six players, the slugs played with pure heart, pride, and determination to pull off the upset.

With a week off, the slugs played against Hardin-Simmons University and Linfield University at home.  The support of family and friends helped the slugs to a 6-3 and 7-2 win respectively.  Up next is a trip up to Washington where UCSC will face:

         E. Washington @ Whitworth on March 23 @ 3:00pm

         Gonzaga @ Gonzaga on March 24 @ 9:00am

         Whitman @Whitman on March 26 @ 4:00pm

         Willamette @ Whitman on March 27 @ 12:00pm

Thank you to all our friends and family who came out to watch us in southern California and here at UCSC.  We greatly appreciate your support.
