Slugs Have A Successful Spring Break

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The lady Slugs traveled to Southern California to take on Division III rivals: Occidental College, University of Redlands and Claremont McKenna Mudscripts. The Slugs came out on top in two of the three duel matches only falling to the University of Redlands. The match of the trip was without a doubt the Slugs dominating performance against CMS. Feeling the pressure of expectations the Slugs came ready to play and jumped ahead to a 2-1 lead following doubles. Number one doubles, Taylor Mannix and Ariana Mokhtari disposed of their opponents 8-0 in a timely fashion. On court three, Senior Chrissy Nichol and freshmen Rachel Shinto pulled out the comeback of the year rallying back from a 4-7 deficit to win 9-7. In singles, Mokhtari and Mannix made quick work of their opponents putting the Slugs up 4-1. Senior Kyla Rowe clinched the victory for the Slugs at the number four singles position. The Slugs went on to take the match 7-2. The victory was very sweet as it was something that we had been preparing for all season. Thank you to all our fans who came out to support, we couldn’t have done it without you!
