PALO ALTO, CA -- The UC Santa Cruz Men's Volleyball team opened their season against Stanford with a loss. After losing a shaky game 1, the Slugs settled down for an exciting game 2. Behind strong blocking and the hitting of Tyler Madden (Outside Hitter, Sr.) the Slugs tied the game at 28-28 before dropping the game 32-34. After starting game 3 down 3-7, the Slugs tied the score at 20-20 before losing 26-30.

Tyler Madden recorded 13 kills while Bryan Shires (Outside Hitter, So.) added 8. Senior Matt Reynolds (Setter) had 28 assists on the match.
