February 2, 2006 IRVINE, CA -- In the first of thee matches this weekend, versus ranked DI opponents, the #4 Slugs lost to #4 UC Irvine (30-22, 30-28, 30-18). The Santa Cruz was lead by the strong serving and hitting of out side hitters Tyler Madden, 13 kills, and Bryan Shires, 11 kills. Libero Eric Reid added 11 digs. Setter Matt Reynolds had 33 assists. UCI's Matt Webber’s lead all hitters with 15 kills. The Slugs play UCLA (#T-5 DI) Feb. 3 at 7 pm, the match will be played in Pauley Pavilion. |
