March 18, 2006 SANTA CRUZ, CA – It was a quick match and an excellent sendoff for the five seniors as #3 UC Santa Cruz defeated NAIA Holy Names University in three games (30-22, 30-24, 30-26). The Slugs (9-6, DIII 2-0) have won both matches this season versus the Hawks. All five graduating seniors contributed to the win for Santa Cruz. Setter Matt Reynolds had 37 assists, including helping outside hitter Tyler Madden to 12 kills. Libero Eric Reid had 7 digs while defensive players Mike Buchanan and Matt Ward each added an ace and a few digs. The Slugs travel to Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL on Friday to play a series of DIII matches. Results of this trip will determine the West/Midwest Bid to the Molten Final Four in Hoboken, NJ. |
