ROCHESTER, NY -- UC Santa Cruz Men’s Volleyball team was defeated by Vassar College on Saturday at the Nazareth University Invitational, losing in three games, 27-30, 26-30, 28-30. The Slugs move to 8-3 overall and 3-1 at the Division III level.

Senior Middle Blocker Max McDaniel led the Slugs with 9 kills. Sophomore Opposite Shane Yablonka came off the bench to add 6 kills and 2 aces.

The Slugs looked like they had all the answers leading 25-21 in the first game. Vassar went on a serving run to catch up at 27-27. Vassar made three defensive plays to finish out the game 30-27. Game two the Slugs trailed most of the game but caught up at the end at 25-25. Vassar was able to escape the pressure and win 30-27. The third game was the same story; the Slugs were able to get close to Vassar but not able to close out the game.
