Slugs Drop Match In Battle Against Cal Baptist

RIVERSIDE, CA -- UC Santa Cruz Men’s Volleyball team was defeated by California Baptist University on Saturday night at the Van Dyne Gym, losing in three games, 28-30, 16-30, 28-30. The Slugs record drops to 9-6 overall and 3-1 at the Division III level.

Junior Outside Hitter Brad Sullivan led the Slugs with 11 kills. Senior Outside Hitter Matt Smiley contributed 9 kills and Junior Setter Eric Rowell had 34 assists.

In game one the Slugs hung tough but fell short at the very end. In game two the Slugs could not get a rhythm and where unable to handle the tough serving of Cal Baptist.

Game three the Slugs were down 26-24 and tied it up 27-27 but were not able too keep the momentum. Cal Baptist closed out the game 30-28.

The Slugs play their next match Saturday night against Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. The match is set to start at 7:00 pm.
