Slugs Win Big At Home

SANTA CRUZ, CA–UC Santa Cruz Men’s Volleyball team defeated Grand Canyon University on Saturday afternoon in there second meeting. The Slug’s won in three games, 30-28, 31-29, 30-24.

Senior Outside Hitter Brad Sullivan and Junior Middle Blocker Rick Schroeder led the Slugs with 10 kills, followed by Senior Outside Hitter Justin Lamb with 9. Senior Setter Eric Rowell contributed 35 assists

The Slugs where in control in game one and did not hesitate to finish. During game two GCU took the lead at 23-21, but was unable to keep the upper hand due to an impressive blocking and hitting display by Junior Middle Blocker Rick Schroeder. The Slug’s went on to close out game three with a great team effort. 

The win at home brings the Slug’s record to 2-1 on the season. The Slug’s play their next match Saturday night at home in the West Field House against University of the Pacific. The match is set to start at 7:00 pm
