Slugs Win In Rochester

Rochester, NY—UC Santa Cruz Men’s Volleyball team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday afternoon for their first victory of the Nazareth Invitational Tournament. The Slug’s won in three games, 30-24, 30-26, 30-26. This win takes the Slugs Division III record to 3-1, and overall record to 6-3.

Senior Justin Lam led the slugs with 18 kills, fallowed by freshman Outside Hitter Salvatore La Cavera with 14 kills. Senior Setter Eric Rowell contributed 57 assists.

The Slugs ran their offence with great efficiency and dug their way out of many tight spots. The Slugs ended with a .455 hitting percentage and dug 33 balls.

The Slug’s play their next match Friday night in Rochester against Medaille College. The match is set to start at 6:00 pm.
