Slugs Looking Strong

Rochester, NY—UC Santa Cruz Men’s Volleyball team defeated Medaille College on Friday night for their second victory of the Nazareth Invitational Tournament. The Slug’s won in five games, 30-14, 25-30, 30-24, 25-30 and 15-12. This win takes the Slugs Division III record to 5-1, and overall record to 8-3.

Senior Justin Lam and freshman Outside Hitter Salvatore La Cavera tied the match with 17 kills apiece. Junior Austin Einhorn added 10 kills to the victory. Senior Setter Eric Rowell contributed 57 assists.

The Slugs fired on all cylinders in the first game but Medaille would not break so easily. Medaille rallied and fought hard to take the second. From then on it was a fierce battle with the Slugs taking control in the fifth and final game.

The Slug’s play their next match Saturday morning in Rochester against Rivier College. The match is set to start at 10:00 am.
