Men's Volleyball Chosen as At-Large
Representative for Molten Championship
The Banana Slugs finished a runner-up
to Juniata College in the 2006 event and placed third in 2004 in their
only other appearances in the event.
LEXINGTON, Ky.- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and
USA Volleyball, in conjunction with Molten U.S.A., Inc., are pleased to announce
the University of California, Santa Cruz as the 2008 Molten Division III Men's
Invitational Volleyball Championship Midwest/West Region at-large representative.
This year's tournament will be April 11-12 at Springfield College in Springfield,

Slugs Ranked #1 in AVCA Poll, Head to Tournament to Face
DIII Competition SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The UC Santa Cruz Men's Volleyball team moved to the
#1 spot in the CSTV/AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll. The Slugs,
8-4 overall, are 5-0 versus DIII opponents. (more)

Shires Receives AVCA Division III
Men's National Player of the Week For Men's Volleyball
Bryan Shires, a 6-3 outside hitter
for then-No. 3. UC Santa Cruz, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division
III Men's National Player of the Week. He earned the award after leading
his team to a 4-0 record at the Wisconsin Invitational, which included wins
over three nationally ranked teams. In the Banana Slugs' sweep of then-No.
15 Milwaukee School of Engineering, Shires scored seven kills, five digs
and a block, then followed that up with eight kills, one ace and two digs
in a 3-0 win over then-No. 11 Rivier. (more)

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- UC Santa Cruz Men's Volleyball
announces schedule and prepares for 2008 season. The 2008 season is complete
