HIGH SCHOOL: He earned four varsity letters at Valhallal HS for volleyball and was named to the 1st team All-League team, 1st team All-CIF, and 3rd teamAll-County for San Diego (2008). He was also on the Honor Roll all four years of high School.

PERSONAL: His parents are Yvonne and John Mertuka, and he has one sibling, Sonya, 21. .During his free time he enjoys surfing, chilling, and badmiton.
