Williford named Association of Division III Independents Volleyball Player of the Week

NEWBERRY, SC -- University of California, Santa Cruz, senior Briana Williford (Piedmont, CA) has been named the Association of Division III Independents volleyball Player of the Week. Williford, an opposite side hitter, helped her team to three wins last week, two of them coming against ranked opponents. For the week, Williford had 42 kills and 12 blocks. In a win over Mills College, Williford tallied 11 kills by hitting .500 and recorded five blocks. She also produced 13 kills and six blocks against regionally ranked Menlo College. In a four-game upset over nationally ranked CSU East Bay, Williford compiled 18 kills, hitting .433, and one block. Seven of her 18 kills came in game four. Williford, who is coached by Selene Teitelbaum, currently leads the Banana Slugs in kills (117) and is second in blocks (22).
