2008 Season Preview

The UCSC Women’s Volleyball team has never looked better.  With 12 returning athletes and 13 upper classmen, the Slugs have a wealth of experience going in to the 2008 season.  Look to Senior Libero Melinda Tom who currently holds the record for most digs in a season (652) and most digs in a match (52) to lead the defense this season.  Also expect a great season from Senior Outside Hitter Megan Wisniewski and Senior Middle Blocker Daniella Reagan

The UCSC Women’s Volleyball team welcomes rookie Senior Jenna Lofstrom (Setter), Junior transfer Jessica Flood (Middle Blocker) and lone freshman Alyssa Trakes (Setter/Defensive Specialist).

The Slugs have a tough schedule this season opening at Pacific University in Oregon where they will battle against two top-ranked teams: University of Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran University.  The team will then travel to Southern California for the Pacific Coast Classic Tournament hosted by the Claremont Colleges and the Cal Lutheran Tournament to play several tough NCAA Division III opponents.

Come out and see the first home matches on September 27th vs. Whittier College  at 3pm and long time rival, Cal State East Bay at 7pm in the newly remodeled West Field House.
