September 09, 2007 Slugs Go 3-1 at Pacific Coast Classic SANTA CRUZ, CA - The UCSC Women’s Volleyball team had another great weekend at the Pacific Coast Classic hosted by the Claremont Colleges. Up first against the Slugs was NCAA DIII Lewis & Clark. UCSC defeated Lewis & Clark in 5 games (20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 19-15, 15-12). Senior Outside Hitter Megan Wisniewski led the team with 19 kills, 2 digs and 1 block. Junior Middle Blocker Jessica Flood contributed 12 kills, 4 digs and 3 blocks and Senior Middle Blocker Daniella Reagan had 11 kills and 5 blocks for the match. The Slugs then defeated Wheaton College of Illinois in 4 games (25-15, 25-12, 24-26, 25-13). Leading the Slugs again was Senior Outside Hitter Megan Wisnewski with 14 kills and only 1 error on 37 attempts hitting .351 for the match. Junior Opposite Jen Meyers tallied 13 kills with only 1 error on 22 attempts hitting an amazing .545 for the match. On Saturday, the Slugs faced The Slugs faced #14 nationally ranked The UCSC Women’s Volleyball team, now 5-3 on the season, will travel to the Cal Lutheran tournament next weekend to face Claremont, Whitworth, Redlands and Pomona. |
