Slugs Finish the Week 2-0 at Home
SANTA
CRUZ, CA -- The
UCSC Women's Volleyball Team went undefeated at home this week versus Holy
Names University and Dominican University. Against Holy Names, the Slugs
won in three straight (25-14, 25-21, 25-19). Leading for the Slugs was Senior
Outside Hitter Megan Wisniewski who had 11 kills, 2 blocks and 2 digs followed
by Senior Middle Blocker Daniella Reagan who had 3 blocks, 9 kills, only
1 error on 19 attempts, hitting an impressive .421 for the match. Junior
Defensive Specialist Dana Johnson had a great matching leading the team's
defense with 12 digs, 3 aces, 3 assists and 1 kill.
The Slugs then took down Dominican in 4 exciting games (25-21, 25-16, 22-25,
25-20). The entire team had top performances with an even spread of points
throughout. Megan Wisniewski and Jen Meyers each racked up 11 kills, while
Jessica Flood and Jackie McCrory each added 10 kills. Junior Setter and
team captain, Amy Knight, had an impressive match with 41 assists, 3 aces
and 16 digs while Melinda Tom rounded out the defense with 24 digs and 2
aces.
The Slugs are now 16-5 on the season. The team has a tough week next week
facing Menlo College, #9 ranked Cal State East Bay, Bowdoin, #18 ranked
Cal Lutheran and #20 ranked Mount St. Joseph at the Cal State East Bay tournament
next weekend.
