Selene Teitelbaum Resigns as Head Women's Volleyball Coach
SANTA
CRUZ, CA --
After seven years as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at UC Santa Cruz, Selene Teitelbaum has stepped down. She has accepted a position as Associate Head Coach with the Winona State University Women’s Volleyball Team in Southeast, Minnesota. Winona State is an NCAA DII institution in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
“Although I am excited for my new position and the new challenges ahead of me, it is very difficult to leave Santa Cruz and my team,” Teitelbaum said.
“We have a great group of young women returning and I have no doubt that they will continue to be successful in the upcoming seasons. It was a pleasure coaching at UCSC for the last seven years, and as an alumni, it will always have a special place in my heart.”
Teitelbaum has coached eleven NCAA Division III Independent All-Americans, three DIII Independent Players of the Week and had six consecutive seasons with athletes joining the AVCA 30 Dig Club. Under Teitelbaum, UCSC had their first ever NCAA West Region ranking and back-to-back twenty win seasons.
“Selene has demonstrated her leadership and tremendous coaching abilities over the years” said Athletic Director Linda Spradley. “Her teams are consistent over-achievers, working to their peak performance in the classroom and on the court. She has created a program that is extremely competitive against every opponent on their schedule. Selene is an excellent recruiter and fundraiser. She is a consummate professional.”
Linda Spradley added “She will be extremely successful at her new post and will always be a Slug to us.”
Assistant Coach Todd Hollenbeck will take over immediately as interim head coach.
