Slugs Start Cal Lutheran Tournament With a Win
THOUSAND OAKS, CA --
UC Santa Cruz Women’s Volleyball team defeated Pomona-Pitzer College on Friday afternoon. The Slug’s won in four games 25-23, 14-25, 28-26, and 25-22. This win moves the Slug’s overall record to 15-9.
Sophomore Katherine Grow and Sophomore Opposite Elizabeth Tambley led with 15 kills. Junior Setter Alyssa Trakes contributed 45 assists and Sophomore Jaime Weber had 15 digs for the match.
The Slug’s came out to a slow start but were able to get back on their feet and take the first game. Pomona would not let down in game two putting the pressure on with their aggressive serving game.
Game three was a nail biter with the Slug’s defense digging them to victory. In the fourth game Opposite Elizabeth Trambley put the team on her shoulders and led the Slug’s to victory hitting .400 for the match.
The Slug’s play their next match Friday night in Thousand Oaks against University of Redlands. The match is set to start at 5:00 pm.
