Slugs Defeat Oaks at Home
SANTA CRUZ , CA --UC Santa Cruz Women’s Volleyball team defeated Menlo College on Saturday night. The Slug’s won in four games 21-25, 25-13, 25-20, and 25-9. This win moves the Slug’s overall record to 18-12.
Sophomore Outside Hitter Katherine Grow and Sophomore Middle Blocker Ginger Berryman led with 14 kills. Junior Setter Alyssa Trakes contributed 43 assists and Sophomore Libero Jaime Weber had 10 digs for the match.
In game one the Slugs came out to a slow start. In game two the Slugs were unstoppable. The Slugs served tough with Annie Reyes-Ortiz contributing 5 aces. In game three the Slugs had a strong start but struggled towards the end. The Oaks put together a 7-point run and made it a close one. During the fourth and final game the Slugs
The Slugs did a great job serving tough ending with a season high 10 aces.
The Slug’s play their next match Saturday afternoon in Oakland against Holy Names University. The match is set to start at 3:00 pm.
