WWPA Player of the Week

ANDY STEVENS
Loyola Marymount
Freshman Andy Stevens (LMU) made 36 saves in three games against teams ranked in the nation’s top-20. His performance has earned him Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week honors for Oct. 3.  He had a career-best 16 in the Lions’ 9-4 win on the road at No. 12 UC San Diego. He added 10 against No. 5 Pepperdine and another 10 against No. 8 UC Santa Barbara. On the season, Stevens leads the WWPA with 11.6 saves per game.

WWPA Highlights and Notes

TOP PERFORMANCES: Junior Left Hander Lucas Zepeda (UC Santa Cruz), scored four goals in the victory over Fresno Pacific.  He also had two assists in the game against #3 UCLA... Nick Arrigo (UC Davis) scored two goals, including the game-winner with 25 seconds remaining, to help UC Davis post a 7-6 comeback win over Santa Clara. The Aggies finished the game with four unanswered goals (including two by Arrigo) to remain unbeaten against the WWPA... Senior captain Justin Berry, playing in his final regular season home games, led the Falcons to a second-place finish at the East Meets West Tournament this past weekend. Berry, named to the all-tournament team at the end of the weekend, tallied 15 goals in four games, including a weekend-high five goals in an 18-12 win over 19th-ranked Cal Baptist.
