Four Slug Water Polo Playes named to the "Superior" Academic All-American Team

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Four Slug Men's water polo players, plus the UC Santa Cruz team at large, were bestowed with 2007 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Awards, which was announced by Executive Director Bryan Kimbell on Monday, April 7th.

The four, all starters for the 2007-2008 UC Santa Cruz Men's Water Polo team, are Senior defender Justin Garver, Senior attacker Grant Shubin, Junior goalie Luke Green and Freshman attacker Jacob Morton.

Grant Shubin had been previously named to the Athletic All-American Team for 2007-2008 and was one of only three Division III players in the nation to be named to both teams.

As a team, the Slugs had the seventh highest team GPA among men's water polo programs, only trailing UC Davis among public universities and just edging out UC Berkeley by seven hundredths of a point.
