November 18, 2007 Men's Water Polo Falls to #7 Pomona-Pitzer 14-8 Outscoring eighth-seed UC Santa Cruz 8-3 in the second half, seventh-seed Pomona-Pitzer took a 14-8 victory over the Banana Slugs in the seventh-place contest. Pomona got out to a 3-0 lead in the opening period, but a strong second quarter from UCSC cut the margin to 6-5 at the half. However, Pomona shut out Santa Cruz in the third quarter to stake an insurmountable lead. Mark D’Avino led the Sagehens with three goals, while four others added two goals each. For the Banana Slugs, Grant Shubin and Justin Garver tallied three goals each to lead the team.
