Women's XCountry 2007 Season Preview
SANTA CRUZ, CA --The trails in and around UC Santa Cruz will be a little busier this fall, as the 2007 UCSC Women’s Cross Country team fields it’s largest roster in program history. One reason for this growth has been the team’s largest ever recruiting class, with 8 incoming frosh. Add in a core group of returners that spent most the summer training together, and this is by far the deepest and largest team to run Cross Country at UC Santa Cruz. (More)

Women's Cross Country Finishes 7th In Season Opener
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- The UCSC Cross Country team opened up the 2007 season with a 7th place finish at the USF Invite in Golden Gate Park on Saturday September 1st. With 16 runners entered this marked the largest squad ever to race for UC Santa Cruz.. (More)

XCountry Formed A Block At The Lewis & Clark Invite
ETSACADA, OR -- It was like one big Banana Slug blocked the race course at the Lewis & Clark Invite in Etsacada, Oregon on Saturday September 8th. At the 1st mile mark UCSC's top seven runners came through less then a second apart. Close behind was a second pack of five UCSC runners, also less then a second apart. This was the first time the team tried the tactic and Coach Boothe was pleased it worked so quickly. "There's more to work on, but this was our first try at true pack running so it went great.". A Record Breaking Race For Women's Cross Country
SALEM, OR --These are without a doubt the fastest Banana Slugs UC Santa Cruz has ever seen. On Saturday the Women’s Cross Country team set a new school record with a 19:25 average team time over the 5k course at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational in

. In a race that saw many personal bests and six Slugs run under 20 minutes for 5k; Freshman Mikayla Murphy stood out, setting a school record of her own. (More)

Murphy Breaks Her Second School Record In SF State Gator Invite
SAN FRANCISCO, CA --The Lady Banana Slugs held their own on Saturday at the SF State Gator Invite in Golden Gate Park, finishing 5th out of 11 teams. This was especially impressive considering they were the only NCAA DIII team in the race. It was a day of superb individual performances too. (More)

Another Saturday, Another 5th Place Finish Against DI & DII Competition For Women's XCountry
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA --The UCSC Cross Country team was in
San Luis Obispo
over the weekend at the Cal Poly Invite, were they proved once again they can hang in with any competition. The Slugs were 5th out of 10 teams in the Women’s 5K College Race at Fairbanks Cross Country course; typically a very slow course compared to most the Slugs race on. It was also a weekend of breakthrough team running for the squad.(More)
