Women and Men Open Season with 7th Place Team Finishes
SAN FRANCISCO, CA --The UCSC women continued tradition with their opening season race at the University of San Francisco Invitational while the men’s team competed as an NCAA DIII team for the first time. Slugs Place 2nd at the Bronco Invitational
SUNNYVALE, CA --UC Santa Cruz women’s cross country posted their best performance of the season with a 2nd place team finish out of 20 teams in the Bronco Invitational’s open section. Under cloudy skies and on a fast and flat course for the first time this season, the Slugs comfortably outdistanced the top runners from multiple DII schools as well as San Jose State and the “B” teams from other DI programs. Slugs Place 6th at the Gator Invitational
SAN FRANCISCO, CA --The UCSC women’s cross country team finished 6th of 17 teams at this past Friday’s Gator Invitational, hosted by San Francisco State at Golden Gate Park. Freshmen Katie Lewis’ 14th place finish, in a time of 23:27 over the 6K course, led the Slugs strong showing against Division I schools, Santa Clara University St. Mary’s, San Jose State, and DII schools San Francisco State, Cal State Stanislaus and Sonoma State. Santa Clara won the meet with St. Mary’s 2nd while the Slugs finished in front of DI San Jose State who was 8th. (More) |

Slugs Place 2nd at the Willamette University Grass Course Invitational
SALEM, OR--UCSC cross country traveled north to the Willamette University Grass Course Invitational with two objectives: compete against some of its regional rivals for the first time this season, and gain race experience on the same course where the 2010 Western Regional Championships will be held. They accomplished both with their 2nd place finish. Willamette University—the 4th ranked team in the Western Region—won the meet, while the Slugs beat regional competitors Linfield, Pacfic (Ore) and Pacific Lutheran. (more) |
