Aaron Jacobsen begins the 2010 season as the Interim Head Women’s Cross Country Coach. Having worked four seasons as an assistant with the program, Jacobsen is an experienced collegiate cross country and post-collegiate distance running coach. During this time, the team had four NCAA Championship qualifiers and several All-Region award winners.
Prior to working with UC Santa Cruz, he began his coaching career as a Cross County and Track & Field coach at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. A Santa Cruz native, Jacobsen competed for UC Irvine while completing his B.A. in Political Science. He was a Big West Conference Scholar Athlete and member of the 2002 NCAA West Region All-Academic Team. Jacobsen holds a master's degree in kinesiology and is a former kinesiology lecturer at San Jose State University.

Returning for her third year as an assistant coach, Carina Hendricks is an UC Santa Cruz alumni with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In Hendrick's four seasons competing for the Slugs she earned an All-Region award and qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Meet in 2008. After completing her college career, Hendricks ran 3:06 in her marathon debut. In a distinguished high school career at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, Calif., Hendrick's qualified for the California Division II State Cross Country Meet several times as well as making the State Track & Field Championship meet in the 800 meters.
