Scarlettt Sends Slugs Past Pioneers

Senior Midfielder Anthony Scarlett provided an explosion of offense for the Slugs on Saturday as he tallied two assists in the Slugs 3-0 victory against the visiting Cal State East Bay Pioneers.  Scarlett was the provider for both  Junior, Forward Harry Abraham, and for fellow Senior Midfielder David Frank.  Freshman Midfielder Davin Kono recorded his first collegiate goal of his career when he converted from close range on an assist from Senior Forward Steve Wondolowski.

The Slugs improve to 10-1 with this key win over their local Division III independent rivals.  The Slugs also recorded their 10th shutout of the season, which puts them among the best defensive teams in the country.  Junior Goalkeeper Jared Wheeler continued his stellar performance for the Slugs defense ranking himself among the top goalkeepers in the nation.

Next up the Slugs face Cal State San Marcos, a Division II team on Saturday October 7th at 2 PM.  The Men's and Women's team will be holding a fundraising BBQ during the game.  Make sure to join them for a great day of soccer and great food.
