Five players sign to women's volleyball incoming class for 2018

UC Santa Cruz announced the signing of five exceptional student-athletes for the women's volleyball team.

The members of the class of 2022 come from successful programs all over California, bringing an amazing amount of talent to the Banana Slugs who seek to rebound from a 6-21 season.

 Shelby Grover- 6'0" Middle

Gregori HS (Modesto)

Helped the Jaguars to a Modesto Metro Conference title and CIF San Joaquin Section playoff appearance

Isabella Hoglund- 5'11" Outside/Opposite

Bishop O'Dowd HS (Oakland)

Had 20 aces her senior year under former UCSC head coach Lynn Hall as the Dragons won the North Coast Section title and reached the Division I State CIF playoffs.

 Gio Martins- Libero/Defensive Specialist

Marymount HS (Los Angeles)

Was also a Sand Volleyball standout for the Sailors. Played Club for Southern California Volleyball Association, and was an AAU National Champion with the SCVA '15 Roxy team  in 2015.

 Maiya Sears5'10" Outside/middle hitter

Narbonne High School (Harbor City)

A four-year varsity player, she led the Gauchos to the State Division III Playoffs as a senior.

Holly Teisher- 5'11" Middle

San Dieguito Academy (Encinitas)

A 4-year player, Holly was twice team MVP and a 2-time San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team honoree (2016, 2017) and helped lead the Mustangs to the San Diego section playoff the past two seasons out of the competitive Avocado League. Spent at least some time playing every front line position in her career- Outside, Middle, and Opposite.
