Where: UC Santa Cruz, East Field House

Instructors:   UCSC Head Coach, David Klech

UCSC Assistant Coach, Shawn Gallup

UCSC Men's and Women's Cross Country Team Members

Participants: Up to 30 High School Varsity Distance Runners (This ID Clinic will focus on Distance Running, but can be attended by Sprinters/Hurdlers/Middle Distance Runners looking to enhance their skills).

Description of the clinic: The 1-Day Running ID (Individual Development) Clinic will be an elite level interactive development clinic for high school runners who have the desire to run at the collegiate level.  This is a great opportunity for high school student-athletes to see what it takes to become a collegiate athlete, to assess their current skill level, and ask questions from current student-athletes about their experiences.

The ID Clinic is designed to help distance runners learn about different training philosophies, VO2 Max Training, Speed Work, Injury Prevention, and Strength & Conditioning Training.  Sessions will include different dynamic warm-ups working on postural integrity, muscle activation and recruitment, technical form analysis, cool downs, and function strength training for distance runners.

Cost/Price:  $85.00. The price of the clinic includes: the two training sessions, a lunch in the dining hall, a Q & A session with current UC Santa Cruz student-athletes, and a tour of campus with our current UC Santa Cruz runners and coaches.

Clinic Goals:  The goal is that participants will be able to build on their own understanding of running, learn successful habits that will improve their running economy, and learn strength assets to help with training.

Transportation: Runners will secure their own housing/lodging/transportation for the Clinic.  You will find all the applications materials for the FALL 2018 ELITE ID Clinic in the links below. Please email us to secure your spot and submit your paperwork ASAP via snail mail. See the application materials for more details about the field session times.
