Swim teams take on Cal State Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD - In the first of two meets against Division I opponents, UC Santa Cruz traveled Saturday to take on Cal State Bakersfield of the WAC.

Although the Roadrunners swept all 32 events, there were some bright spots.

The women's 400 medley relay  of Megan Roby, Emma Brown, Mackenzie Arnold and Kaila Duffy had their season besttime of 4:17.35. Brown had a split of 55.82 seconds.
Freshman Kenya Lam was 3rd place in the 200 Backstroke with a team season-best of 2:17.73.
Among the men, sophomore Aaron Wood was 3rd in the 500 free with his Lifetime best 4:58.24-the first time under 5:00
"It was a successful meet, we are using our last two dual meets as tune ups for our conference championships," said head coach Matt Nauman.
"Since CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly SLO are Division 1 teams, it is tough for us to win events, but we had some standout performances that bode well for our conference champs."
The Slugs return to the pool next week when they travel to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Saturday.
