Slugs ranked 5th after one day of play at the Jack Leaman Invitational
AMHERST, MA. - With three players ranked in the top-five, Ithaca College holds the lead with a team score of 320 after the first round of the 2013 Jack Leaman Invitational at the Hickory Ridge Golf Club.
Each carding a five-over par 79, the Bombers' Sharon Li and Kelsey Baker sit two strokes behind individual leader Elaine Tse of NYU. With Jiye Kim (80) also tied for fifth, the Violets currently rank second (323), while Williams (325), led by runner-up Paige Whidbee (78) sits third.
Behind Jordan Glatt's 81, Middlebury finished fourth (337) after the first 18 holes, while host Amherst and UC Santa Cruz tied for fifth with a 339. Liz Monty '13 tied for fifth on the individual leader board with an 80, while Devyn Gardner '16 turned in an 85.
Jenny Xu '16 carded a first round 86, while Irene Hickey '13 and Kristen Lee each posted an 88. Competing as individuals, the Jeffs' Sarah Ressler '16, CJ Bernstein '15 and Katherine Britt '15 recorded scores of 84, 96 and 99, respectively.
Kalin Merkley tied for fifth (80) to lead seventh-place SUNY Cortland (347), while Michelle Cho's 84 paced Wellesley (357). Vassar (361) and Hamilton (382) came in ninth and 10th, while Mount Holyoke (395) and St. Lawrence (413) rounded out the field of 12.
