Assistant Coach Brad
Bartanen begins his first season with UCSC Women's Golf team.
United States Air Force Academy and Standford University educated
as mechanical design engineer, Brad worked in the aerospace
industry on such projects as the Hubble Space Telescope and the
Space Shuttle, he spent 10 years in New York City (auditioning and)
teaching dance and exercise to clients including Christopher
Plummer. He developed dance equipment used by such companies as The
New York City Ballet. On returning to California, he worked at
Stanford as a book editor on Track & Field world records for
the acclaimeed Celine expert, Alphonse Juilland. As assistant
manager of the Stanford weight room, he worked with many world
class athletes, including Olympic medalists Dave Schultz and Adam
Nelson. (During this time, he wrote two biographical books. The
first, Dance Lover's Blues, includes chapters of encounters with
such elite performers as Sylvie Guillem, Damian Woetzel, Alessandra
Ferri, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Tiger Woods.)
Currently readying
himself for (club championship) tournament golf, Brad trains only
highly motivated clients seeking elite function. His method bends
towards circus, which he studied with Master Lu Yi at the San
Francisco School of Circus Arts.
