Inaugural UCSC Women's Soccer Alumni Weekend

The UCSC Women's Soccer Program hosted their Inaugural Alumni Weekend.  Twenty alumni dusted off their old boots to match up against the current Lady Slugs squad for a great afternoon of friendship and competition on the Lower East Game Field.  Players spanning from the class of 1995 to 2006 were on hand to join in the festivities.

Megan Cox '08, a center back who will be a Senior Captain in the upcoming Fall 2007 season, enjoyed meeting up with a former teammate,  Skye Vendt Pearce.  She remembers a fond memory on the third day of practice her freshman year.   Megan commented,  "We each had to match up for 1v1 defending. I looked around and everyone had a partner, except for Senior Forward Skye Vendt Pierce '04.   She was tough as nails and it was fun to battle against her again this weekend. "

The game was followed up by a lunch at La Mission Restaurant in downtown  Santa Cruz where the athletes were able to reminisce on some of their fondest soccer memories.  Paige Alumbaugh '04 remarked,  "It wa s such a wonderful unforgettable experience.  It was great to see how the program has progressed and see some old teammates.  Even with the difference of years between the players that came out, we were all are able to find some common bonds."

Gina Ramirez '05,  a UCSC Soccer Alumni and one of the current Assistant coaches,  did an amazing job organizing the occasion. All UCSC Women's Soccer alumni, family & friends are invited to attend the festivities next year.   The program welcomes your help in locating teammates that we not have contact information for.  Please send an email to  to help contribute to the success of this event in the future.
