Slugs Upset Regals in NCAA West Region First Round

In the 95th minute, Michele Stathatos scored the golden goal off of an assist from Chay Thomas, and the UCSC Women's Soccer Team continues their incredible season. UCSC defeated the NCAA West Regional host and #10 ranked team in the nation California Lutheran University. The Slugs advance to play Concordia- Moorehead in the 2nd round Sunday night at 5pm at Rolland Stadium at California Lutheran University.


California Lutheran University was 20-1 and the third ranked team in the west region before their defeat tonight. The only other team to shut out Cal Lu was Hardin Simmons, last year's Division III national champions.UCSC found a way to keep a shutout despite enduring 16 shots against and finally earned a victory after losing twice to the Regals in the regular season.
