Emily takes on the Women’s Head Coach position after three
years as assistant
coach at UCSC. As assistant Emily helped the program reach the NCAA post-season
3 out of the 4 past years. As a former player at UC San Diego on the highly successful
women’s squad, Emily was part of 3 NCAA Division III National Championship title
teams at UC San Diego in 1996, 1997 and 1999, including winning the National title
her senior season, the school’s last year at the DIII level before UCSD’s move to DII.
As an outside left back, her record as a player at UCSD was 72-7-3.
Off campus, Emily is involved with player development at the competitive youth
level in Santa Cruz, serving as a trainer and head coach to the Aptos Tide Soccer
Club and as Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Harbor High School in the Santa Cruz
County Athletic League this past 2011-12 season. She has volunteered her time with
the local Breakaway College Access Project, an athletic and academic mentoring
program for soccer players in the Pajaro Valley school District. She holds her USSF
National D diploma. She will also soon receive her Ph.D. in Literature from UC Santa
Cruz and has served as an instructor in the Literature and Writing Departments.
Here at UCSC. Emily and her current assistant Leah met and played on the Monterey
Blues WPSL team in 2008.
