Alexandra Scotten Falls in First Round of NCAA Championships

CARY, NC -- Alex Scotten lost a well fought match in the first round of the NCAA Championships to Kelly Gebert of Depauw University 6-3, 6-4. Scotten went down 0-2 in the first set but came back to tie it up at 2-2 after some great shotmaking and unforced errors from her opponent. Even though Scotten had triple break point twice on Gebert's serve, she could not convert and lost the first set 3-6. Scotten had a tough start to her second set and went down 1-4. However, she dug in and played great tennis to fight back to 4-4. Gebert's experience paid off and she then closed out the set 6-4. Luckily, Scotten is only a sophomore and has a great future ahead of her. For the draw and scores, click here.
