Slugs Qualify for NCAA DIII Women's National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana– 49 teams have been selected by the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Committee to compete in this year's DIII Women's Tennis Championship.

The games will take place at the corresponding regional sites for the first 3 rounds, with the championship game being played in Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, MI. The tournament will begin Thursday, May 12th and end May 28th. Athletes selected to individual championships will be announced this Wednesday, May 11th.

UC Santa Cruz Women's Tennis receives an automatic qualification as the Great South Atlantic Conference Champions. will be representing the Great South Atlantic Conference in the Tournament. Williams College will be defending their National Championship title.

"We've got a younger team, so for a lot of people, this is a first experience in the NCAA, and they are really excited. It was a team effort to get this opportunity, everyone has been bringing their best, by making great contributions on and off the court, to maximize the team's potential," said Women's Tennis Head Coach, Amy Jensen.

Amy Leslie, GSAC Freshmen of the Year, also joined by Sylvia Brummitt, Islay Fossett, and Zoe Brook as first team All-GSAC recipients will be leading the Slugs against Lewis and Clark College. Winner of this match will go on to face Pomona Pitzer College.
