Women's Volleyball Go 1-1 on Day 2 Of the Puget Sound Tournament

UC Santa Cruz Women's Volleyball wins their first match of the season against UW Stout!  The Slug's won in three straight sets with the following scores: 25-9, 25-15, 25-21.

Junior Katherine Grow led the team with 17 kills followed by Junior Elizabeth Trambley with 9 kills. Senior Setter Alyssa Trakes totaled 30 assists on the match.
The Slugs entered the match at full speed pulling ahead to an untouchable lead in the first set.  The Slug's serving and near impregnable defense proved too much too handle for their opponents.

Slugs fall to Pacific Lutheran Saturday evening in four sets with the following scores 23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 26-24.

The Slugs were led by Junior Elizabeth Trambley with 10 kills.  Senior Setter Alyssa Trakes contributed 37 assists for the match.

The Slugs played tough and competed well against their opponents.  Strong defense by both sides provided an exciting match.  In the earlier sets, both teams struggled to find wholes in each other's defense which lead to multiple lead changes throughout the match.  In the end, the opponent's height advantage allowed them to convert more transition points resulting in narrowly edging out the Slugs.

This weekend the Slugs head to Thousand Oaks, CA to compete in the Cal Lutheran Tournament.  They face Claremont College Friday, Sept. 9 at 5:00 p.m.  Following the match the Slugs square off against the University of Redlands at 7:00 p.m.
